Frequently asked questions
What is the read range of UHF RFID?
Read range depends on reader power, the antenna, tag size and the material the tag sits on, and runs from a few centimetres to several metres. Metal and liquids reduce performance. For a reliable answer, we recommend testing tags on your own items in a pilot.
UHF or HF RFID: what is the difference?
UHF (860–960 MHz) reads many tags at once over a longer distance, so it is used for stocktaking, logistics and apparel retail. HF (13.56 MHz) works at short range and suits access cards, libraries and NFC. We help you choose the frequency for your task.
Can RFID tags be used on metal or liquid-filled items?
A standard tag reads poorly on metal, so special on-metal tags are used. For liquid-filled items, the tag type and placement should also be chosen through testing. Poson helps choose a tag for the item material and can provide test samples.
Where should an RFID project start?
Start with a pilot: tags, readers and antennas are tested in one warehouse zone or one store. The results define how much equipment you need, where it goes and how it is configured. Poson then installs the hardware, tunes the antennas and sets up the flow of RFID data into 1C.
Can RFID data be sent to 1C?
Yes, Poson connects data from RFID readers to 1C. For example, stocktaking results or item movements go into your accounting system. The scope depends on your 1C configuration and processes and is set out in the quote.
Can we print and encode RFID labels ourselves?
Yes, you need an RFID printer: it prints text and a barcode on the label and encodes the tag inside it in the same pass. The labels and inlays must suit the printer model. Poson helps choose the printer and labels and prepares the encoding templates.
